Paulien Dresscher is Head of the New Media Department and curator of the MediaLab at Cinekid in Amsterdam.
The Cinekid Festival is the largest international film, television and new media festival for children aged 4 to 14 held at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The new media part of the festival consists of the 1200 m2 MediaLab and enhances media literacy through the creation of a unique opportunity for kids, alongside their parents, professionals and decision makers, to discover the array of new possibilities in image culture, art and media convergence in a hands-on and playful manner. This digital playground and experimental garden with over the 35 games, installations and workshops, invites the visitor to discover, experiment, observe and be amazed. Each year the festival is attended by over 50.000 children, parents and (international) guests. Paulien Dresscher holds a Bachelor degree of Media and Fine Arts from Minerva Academy in Groningen, as well as both Masters in New Media and Research Masters in Media Studies from the University of Amsterdam. She is advisor E-Culture at the Netherlands Film Fund in Amsterdam and at the Flanders Audiovisual Fund in Brussels for the games department. Paulien Dresscher is living with her husband and daughter on a sailing ship in the center of Amsterdam.
