Jim Gray, Ed.D.
As Vice President of Learning Design at Sesame Workshop, Jim is responsible for the educational quality of interactive products designed to help children grow smarter, stronger, and kinder. Areas of expertise include children’s development, play, learning, and media design, with a career spanning academic research, teaching, product development, and business innovation. Jim has been a teacher of young children, researcher of innovative learning technologies, Director of Learning at LeapFrog, and education lead or advisor to a wide range of companies creating digital learning and play products for kids. His academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, an advanced degree in interactive media design, and a doctorate of education from Harvard. He has been an advisor to PBS KIDS Next Generation Media and Stanford University’s Learning, Design, and Technology program. Recent publications include co-authorship of Digital Media and Latino Families: New Channels for Learning, Parenting, and Organizing released by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center, and Putting Education in “Educational” Apps: Lessons From the Science of Learning published in Psychological Science in the Public Interest.
