AppCamp 2014 Housing

  • Looking for a reasonably priced room at AppCamp? Let us help you.

The Marconi Conference Center is the crown jewel of the California State Park system (it is where the rangers themselves go for their meetings). Unlike Asilomar, there is no resort company involved in the management, so things tend to cost less.  The rooms are hotel quality with private baths, but note that there is a two-night minimum stay, and the rates include food. In other words, this is not a hotel, and every room will be occupied by people from our group. If you’re staying off grounds, you need only pay $75 per day for food and park access. We’ll help you find a B & B nearby if you only want to stay for one night; plus there’s a nearby national park.

Marconi rates are all inclusive, including food (three meals) and CA State Park park access. That comes to $170.50/night, or $341 because you must book both nights. This gets you a bed in a double or triple suite-style room, with single beds. Unfortunately, all the single rooms are filled. Some rooms have queen beds which are available by request — the early bird gets the worm.  If you can only come for one night or live nearby, there is a $75/day fee to cover park access and meals. We’ve been told that the food is excellent, and we’ll have our own private dining area and chef.

COMING ALONE? WE’LL FIND YOU A SAME-GENDER ROOMMATE.
This is your chance to shave with the Picky Teacher. Yes, we’ll play match maker.  You can post a note on the Dust or Magic facebook page, or give us a call. Roommate preferences can be specified on the registration form, or we can help you find a suitable roommate if you like. To inquire about the availability of a triple, call 800-993-9499 (9 to 3 EST) or send an email request to megan@childrenstech.com.

Single rooms were given on a first-come, first-served basis. You can pay for your room up to two weeks prior to the event – use the buttons below to access our secure transaction portal:

While there is no shortage of conferences on kids and tech, Dust or Magic stands out in the crowd. This might be because attendees are required to leave their egos at home, or cast them into the ocean until the sessions are finished.
